What is MoSKito UI?
MoSKito monitors state and performance of your web application.
MoSKito UI on an iOS device is all you need to make sure your web portal is running smoothly while you're enjoying your barbecue.
Being the mobile version of open source MoSKito Monitoring Framework, MoSKito UI is essential when you need to keep track of your web application performance, without having access to your computer. MoSKito UI allows you to easily monitor and analyse the vital performance indicators of your app.
What Do You Need to Start
Things you'll need to monitor your app:
- MoSKito Monitoring Framework, embedded into the Java Server (like Tomcat or Jetty) of your web application.
- iOS device with running MoSKito UI and Internet access.

Adding New Applications
To start monitoring your web app, you need to add it to Applications List.
Add a new app to Applications List:
- Tap .
- In Applications List section, tap .
- In Application section:
- Enter name for new app.
- Enter the new app's URL, followed by "/" (like http://site.com/ / ).
Note: MoSKito will automatically add the configuration path to URL - Switch authorization on/off (drag the Authorization slider to Yes/No).
- If authorization is on, enter your Login and Password.
- Tap Save.
If you have received a special configuration code, you may enter it to add applications.
Configuration codes provide an easy way to share common configurations between multiple devices.
Load applications by configuration code:
- Tap .
- In Configuration by code section, enter the configuration code.
- Choose to keep or remove existing applications:
- To keep apps, swipe Add to current configuration slider to YES.
- To remove all other apps, swipe the slider to NO.
- Tap Load.

Managing Applications
See apps, added to MoSKito UI: Tap and go to Applications List section.
Navigate through apps: Swipe down/up to see all applications.
Change app settings:
- Tap the app in Applications List.
- In Application section, change the parameters you need.
- Tap Save.
Change interval for refreshing data: Spin the Update interval picker wheel (values are in seconds).
Note: Changing refreshing interval will not affect most of Accumulators that have their own default monitoring interval.
Delete app: Tap near app's name, then tap Delete.
Working with Thresholds
Thresholds display current state of your app's performance, using color indicators.
View all Thresholds: tap THRESHOLDS tab on the toolbar (left part of MoSKito Mobile App).
The THRESHOLDS tab has 3 areas:
- Threshold List (left side) displays all available Thresholds;
- Application Tabs (top-right part) correspond to the available Applications;
- Display Area (central part) shows detailed Threshold info with color indication.
Switch between Apps: Tap the needed Application Tab; swipe tabs left/right to browse through applications.
In Threshold List, every Threshold has 3 elements displayed:
- Color status Indicator;
- Name (NAME column)
- Value (VAL column).
Threshold color indicators display that your app's performance is:
- green: good;
- yellow: acceptable;
- orange: poor;
- red: bad;
- purple: catastrophic.
Display Threshold: Tap it; the threshold will appear in Display Area.
Display Area shows:
- Color status description;
- Detailed Threshold info (4 columns):
- Time;
- Name;
- Status (previous ->> current);
- Value (previous ->> current).
Display Area only shows performance info and doesn't have any control elements.
Search Thresholds:
- Tap Search (upper-left corner);
- In SEARCH field, start typing the Threshold name (matches will appear in Accumulator List as you type).
Working with Accumulators
Accumulators present performance statistics within a period of time.
An accumulator collects performance data and then shows it as a chart; therefore, accumulators are essential for providing proper performance analysis of an app.
View all accumulators: Tap ACCUMULATORS tab on the toolbar (left part of MoSKito Mobile App).
The ACCUMULATORS tab has 3 areas:
- Accumulator List (left side) displays all available Accumulators;
- Application Tabs (top-right part) correspond to the available Applications;
- Display Area (central part) shows detailed Accumulator info.
Switch between apps: Tap the needed Application Tab; swipe tabs left/right to browse through applications.
In Accumulator List, every Accumulator has 3 attributes displayed:
- Time;
- Name;
- Value.
Accumulator indicators display that performance is:
- green: good;
- yellow: satisfactory;
- orange: poor;
- red: bad;
- purple: catastrophic.
No Data Error
(grey color indicator)
This means no data is currently available for a threshold. It might be caused by a severe application breakdown or simply an incorrect threshold configuration.
In any case, the situation may require your attention.
Display Accumulator: Drag it into Display Area. You may drag as many Accumulators as you want.
After dragging Accumulators, Display Area shows:
- Performance Charts;
- Detailed usage sheet, having 2 columns:
- Timestamp;
- Value.
Refresh Accumulator: Tap Refresh button.
Remove current Chart: Tap Remove button.
Search Accumulators:
- Tap Search (upper-left corner);
- In SEARCH field, start typing the accumulator name (matches will appear in Accumulator List as you type).
